Sembang Songsang
The queers are taking back power, space, language — and everything else. And we’re doing that through this podcast.
Brought to you by Justice for Sisters and friends (as in other LGBTIQ groups), Sembang Songsang features conversations with queer activists, artists, organisers and others on current affairs, culture, art and more. Every 3 weeks (or maybe 4), we will bring you discussions that centre queer perspectives and experiences in Malaysia. Through this podcast, we hope to bring more queer analysis, queer storytelling, queer lens, queer rage, and queer joy into public conversations.
p/s: we are reclaiming songsang. According to Malaysia’s Institute of Language and Literature, it means “reverse” or “inconsistent with norms.” It has been used pejoratively against LGBTQ+ people, and we are reclaiming it on our own terms.
