The Diversity
of Human Identities
Have you ever thought about the different ways people experience their identities? When we talk about our ‘sense of self’, who we are, we usually think about things like our names, our personalities, or where we’re from. But an equally important part of our identity is how we understand ourselves when it comes to gender and sexuality.
Human beings are unique, different and diverse from our hair to our eyes, skin colour, sex, gender, and identity. Discussions around sex and gender diversity is not new but it’s more talked about and visible in today’s age as we have access to more information, language and space to express these things.
Sometimes people are confused about diversity when it comes to gender and sex. And that’s understandable; people have been told for so long that there are only two types (binary) of sex or gender identity male and female or man and woman and the kind of roles we are expected to perform within these identities.
However, gender and sex are far more diverse. This resource will help you navigate concepts of gender and sex as well as equip you on understanding gender-based bullying.
